Dr. Sara McGarry is the owner and Veterinarian at Shoemaker Avenue Animal Hospital. Dr. McGarry is a native of the Greater Pittston Area. At the age of 16 she started her first job as a Veterinary Assistant at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Wyoming Valley, in Avoca. She then worked as a Veterinary technician at Dunmore Pet Health Center, in Dunmore. While working, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from King’s College, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In 2010 she graduated from St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine, in Grand Cayman, and she completed her final year at Purdue University. Upon graduation Dr. McGarry worked at Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center as an Emergency Clinician for three years. She gained a vast amount of experience in Emergency and critical care as well as Internal medicine, Surgery, and Cardiology services. In 2013 Dr. McGarry purchased Shoemaker Avenue Animal Hospital.
She resides in Bear Creek with her Fiancé, Jason, their daughter, Vienna, and son, Jack. They also have three fur-kids named Brody, Savannah, and Lainey. In her time away from work, she can be found spending time with family, gardening, cooking, camping, and spending time outdoors.
