Flea, tick, and Heartworm preventatives

Prevention is KEY when it comes to keeping your pet’s safe from fleas, ticks, and heartworm.  Unfortunately, we live in an area that we can see flea and tick infestations year-round.  This means we can no longer safely only use preventatives in only the summer months.  Below are some of the products that we offer to keep your pet safe.

  • Collars (dogs and cats)
    • Seresto Collar – Kills fleas, Kills and repels ticks, lice, and mites
      • This is a safe and effective way to prevent flea and tick infestations conveniently in the form of a collar. It is placed on the pet’s neck and provides protection from infestations for 8 months!  It is also safe to bathe your pet with the collar and place and does not need to be removed for swimming either.  Though, if you pet swims on a daily basis, it may be best to change the collar every 6 months.  This has become the most cost effective way to keep your pet on year-round prevention!
  • Topical products (dogs and cats):
    • Vectra – Fast acting monthly protection against fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, live, mites, and sand flies
    • Revolution –
      • Dogs – Kills adult fleas and prevents eggs from hatching, prevents heartworm disease, treats ear mites, treats sarcoptic mange, controls American dog tick.
      • Cats – Kills adult fleas and prevents eggs from hatching, prevents heartworm disease, treats ear mites, and also treats and controls intestinal hookworms and roundworms.
    • Frontline for Cats – Kills fleas, ticks, flea eggs, and larvae.
    • Frontline Spray – provides fast acting, long lasting waterproof treatment of and control of fleas, ticks, and chewing lice for dogs and cats 8 weeks of age and older
  • Oral products (dogs only):
    • Sentinel Spectrum – heartworm, flea, tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms
    • Heartgard – prevents canine heartworm disease and treats and controls roundworms and hookworms
    • Simparica – kills adult fleas and most ticks
